How the website checker works

  1. 1

    Paste your URL

Drop in any public web page — a homepage, landing page, pricing page, or product page.

  2. 2

    We score the UX

Sensei reads the page and grades it across three layers — functional UX, aesthetic quality, and design practices — against a fixed rubric.

  3. 3

    Get prioritised fixes

You get an overall Sensei Score, the three layer sub-scores, and the specific issues that matter most, ordered by impact, with recommendations.

What a Sensei check tells you

Most website checkers stop at page speed and broken links. Sensei checks the part that actually decides whether visitors stay, understand your offer, and convert — the user experience. Every check returns an overall Sensei Score (0–100), a tier (red / orange / green / gold), and a breakdown across functional UX, aesthetic quality, and design practices, so you can see where the experience is strong and where it leaks. It's the kind of UX audit that normally takes a consultant hours, in seconds — useful whether you're a founder checking your own landing page, a designer reviewing a client's site, or a team benchmarking against the best in your industry.

Website checker FAQ

Is the website checker free?

Yes. Paste any URL and get a free Sensei Score with your headline issues. A free account adds more checks per month; paid plans unlock the full report — every finding, fix recommendations, copy & SEO analysis, exports, and saved history.

What does the checker analyse?

Sensei scores the user experience of the page across three layers: functional UX (task clarity, navigation, feedback, accessibility and mobile markup signals), aesthetic quality (visual hierarchy, typography, restraint), and design practices (cognitive load, choice pressure, social proof, and CTA quality). It evaluates the page's HTML and content — not a rendered mobile viewport — so the methodology is transparent about what it does and doesn't examine.

How is the score calculated?

Each layer is graded 0–100 by an AI evaluator against a fixed rubric at temperature 0 for consistency, then combined into one overall Sensei Score weighted functional 35%, aesthetic 35%, and practices 30%. The full methodology is public.

How is this different from a performance or SEO checker?

Performance tools (like Lighthouse) measure load speed and technical SEO; they don't judge whether your page is actually clear, persuasive, and easy to use. Sensei is a UX checker — it evaluates the design and experience quality that determines whether visitors understand and convert.

How long does a check take?

A few seconds. Paste a URL, and your score and prioritised findings appear on the results page.
